When Might You Need Small Tree Removal?

HomeBlogWhen Might You Need Small Tree Removal?

When most people think of tree removal, they think of large trees growing too close to powerlines or ones that have fallen on top of cars or houses. They don’t typically think about the need for removing small trees that at first glance may not seem like too much of a problem. However, sometimes small tree removal is necessary, too. Below are a few examples of when you might need to remove a small tree in your backyard or on your commercial property.

When Might You Need Small Tree Removal?

  • Future growth could be a problem. A small tree may not be bothering anything now but could become a problem once it grows. Pay attention to the location of your small tree. As it ages, does it look like it will scrape against a building or have branches that could interfere with powerlines? Removing a smaller tree before it becomes a problem can help you avoid a more difficult tree removal situation down the road.
  • The tree has been damaged or is diseased. Trees are susceptible to damage just like anything else. Smaller trees are less sturdy than larger ones and get easily damaged by lawn tools, human interference, and disease. If your tree looks like it won’t survive due to any of these factors, be sure to consult an arborist to see if removal is necessary.
  • You want your tree to thrive. Different tree species thrive in different settings. Where your small tree is currently planted may not be the best place for the tree to grow based on soil conditions, amount of shade, or proximity to other trees. In this case, a tree removal may turn into tree transplanting, which involves moving a young tree to somewhere it can grow better.
